Pearls are traditionally beautiful when worn in a simple strand, but they can also embody a modern beauty. I'm on a mission to find new ways to explore the modern beauty in these fascinating gemstones. 
In this ring I have used a modern square shape whose corners have been lifted in order to enclose an enormous, showy 9mm black freshwater pearl. The outside of the ring is brought to a high polish. The inside, which surrounds the pearl has a satin finish - providing a high contrast with the incredible sheen of the pearl nacre. It's truly a modern statement piece. To complete the look, pair it with the pearl and mokume game pendant necklace shown in the background.

The ring is 5/8" in width, 5/8" in length and is made of sterling silver.
